ABOUT CONSTANCE PATTERSON
Constance Patterson is a fine artist with a studio in Avon, Connecticut.
She creates a new sense of place by revisiting old familiar landscapes. Her oil paintings deconstruct the topography of the places where she has been, and reconstructs them as new worlds that are more abstract.
Her powerful pieces are both otherworldly and very real at the same time. They convey a sense of peacefulness, but also have an underlying edgy quality that creates an aura of mystery. They might be places that you would visit … if only they were real.
Remnants of places where she has lived and worked are stitched together to form a new fabric that, like patchwork, contain the juxtaposition of the familiar and the strange.
Constance holds a degree in Art and Art History from Beloit College, as well as a Masters in Information Science from Syracuse University, and a Design Degree from the Inchbald School of Design in London.
Over the years, she has had numerous one man shows and has participated in group shows throughout New England. She is currently represented by Xanadu Gallery in Scottsdale AZ.
