"When our thoughts are all-consuming, it can feel like we're alone in a dark lake. We lose sight of the surface, as possibility and hope surrender to the grip of our tunnel vision. But if we are patient, the world will remind us, as many times as we need to hear it, that beautiful things can emerge from the mud. Sometimes we just need to swim around for a bit in the murky side of the color wheel before we can feel pink again." Elizabeth Ladwig
"Pink" shows a surreal scene with a young girl sitting on a large rock. The girl is wearing a billowing, long-sleeved pink dress, and her blonde hair cascades forward, covering her face. Above her, a textured sky creates a dramatic backdrop, featuring a flock of dark birds in flight which are dispersed across the scene. Within the sky, the crescent moon is subtly visible, adding to the surreal nature of the image. The water surface is calm, reflecting the cloudy sky above. On the water's surface near the rock, there is a single white water lily with its pad, which connects to a pink fish seen underneath the water, attached by a thin stem. In the distance, a line of colourful buildings show a faraway shoreline, showcasing how secluded the girl is. The overall feel of the artwork is whimsical and dreamlike, with a sense of stillness and contemplation.
