"Often the things of life become a part of my art in some manner. This sculpture came out of a dream about water where I found myself floating down a river peacefully and effortlessly. In reading about dream imagery, I learn that water often has to do with change. The changes in my life include a job change, selling a home and making a move. A part of my history is closing behind me. What I find most interesting is that I'm OK with all of this change. I'm not fearful or sorry to see it go. It seems right and I'm just going to "go with the flow." Phyllis Mantik deQuevedo
"Go with the Flow" is a sculptural piece portraying a stylized human figure in a reclining pose surrounded by flowing water. The figure exhibits flowing lines, providing a sense of movement and fluidity. The sculpture's surface is treated with a variety of colors, featuring a blend of earthy tones like gold and bronze accented with shades of blue. The use of color emphasizes the contours and muscles of the body, creating a play of light and shadow that highlights the figure's dynamic posture. The sculpture is mounted on a black base, giving it stability and a defined ground on which the figure seems to rest. Overall, the work conveys a sense of relaxed repose, grace, and contemplation, capturing a moment of serene reverie in times of change.
