"In 87 years, Mother Teresa, or Mama Teresa, as I refer to her as, probably gave more love and provided more comfort to the super impoverished, caste-cursed, and downtrodden, than most of us will in many lifetimes! Her trek of lifetime-charity is known to many of us – but it wasn’t until a few years ago when some of her personal writings were published that I was totally drawn to her. After reading of her doubts and questioning of even God, I realized she too was ‘real’. Real in the sense of being practical and honest, not just idealistic. Who of us have not doubted and questioned God’s mercy, his true allowance of suffering & debasement on our beautiful planet and to our beautiful sojourners? I certainly have – and I now look up to Saint Teresa as she looks up into the heavens, pondering, smiling, grateful! Grateful for this journey of discovery. Mama Teresa, I hope I have captured all of your concerns, empathy for humankind, and your true spirit." Gary Lee Price

Part of Price's Great Contributor series, this is a bronze sculpture of Mother Teresa seated on a park bench. The sculpture's realistic detailing includes creases in the clothing, and detailed hands and footwear. The integration of the bench into the sculpture is an invitation for interaction, to sit alongside the figure.
