"Looking out the window this December day, I am reminded that the leaves have dropped, the vegetation is sparse, and many of the birds have migrated. Over the next few months, creatures large and small may peek out from their warm burrows only on occasion. Mother Nature has worked hard over the last three seasons and has come full circle, back to an empty nest, but one that is still full of colorful memories. Wasn't it just yesterday that she cradled them in her arms? It is a bittersweet milestone, but it also presents the opportunity to reflect inward, to rest, reset, and renew. It is a time for discovery. What wonderful new beginnings will fill her nest again?" Elisabeth Ladwig
"Empty Nest" features a surreal and ethereal artwork where a female figure stands with her face obscured by wisps of dark, flowing hair and clouds. Her body is adorned with a dress made from an array of bird feathers in various colors and sizes, giving an impression of a skirt bursting into a flurry of plumage. Below her, a cloud forms the base of the image, with twigs and branches intertwined. From her hair, birds fly through the air, some transforming into a flock of birds taking flight, emphasizing a sense of motion and transformation. The background is a dreamy sky with soft clouds, which adds to the overall fantastical and otherworldly ambiance of the piece. The artwork is evocative, blending themes of nature, transformation, and a hint of mysticism.
