"The fever breaks and the air lifts. It’s coming time for homemade soups, evening fires, cozy sweaters. We pick whatever apples the deer couldn't reach and gift them to family and friends in the form of crisps and German apple cakes, and the house is saturated with sweetness. Autumn festivities are alive with cheer against a backdrop of fiery leaves… distracting me from the slow wane of the season. I make a batch of nectar for the hummingbirds, as I have for the last 20 weeks, but the feeder is still full. Their silent departure reminds me that others will leave too, and the wildlife is preparing to den down. As the morning alarm sounds, barely a glimmer shines through the window now. In another blink, the trees will be skeletal. Still it’s my favorite time of year. The Earth has generously provided for us for another season. In the wake of her exhaustion, colorful offerings are left behind as if to say 'Remember me. Take care of me while I sleep.' The sun falls, earlier each day, and the owl sings a lullaby." "Thank You" presents a whimsical, autumn-themed composition. The central figure is a woman who is in a field, standing barefoot with her eyes closed and her head tilted upward, basking in the moment. She is dressed in a flowing purple dress with long sleeves. She holds a large white apron overflowing with an abundance of fruits and vegetables including apples, lettuce, among others. The woman's hair is styled in curls, partially obscuring her face, and a cascade of colorful fall leaves is caught in mid-air, swirling around her, giving a sense of motion and vitality to the piece. This is further emphasized by the single bird in flight against the cloudy sky in the background. The landscape transitions from a green grassy foreground, where additional scattered leaves can be seen, to a background of trees showcasing a palette of fall foliage colors—yellows, oranges, reds, and greens—contributing to the overall autumnal ambiance of the artwork. The texture of the entire image evokes a painted effect, giving the scene a dreamlike, storybook quality.
