I love fresh starts. Clean slates. Blank canvases. Choose your metaphor. So often we find ourselves in a frenzy, trapped by expectations, doing all the things, while the ever-present opportunity to quietly sit with ourselves, to evolve, remains an oversight. Finding a point of stillness presents a different kind of consciousness, a more whole way of thinking and being and feeling and acting. It is not about retreating from or escaping the world; on the contrary, it is about carving out time to seek interconnectedness so that we might navigate the busyness (and be present with those who are likewise caught in the whirlwind) from a more peaceful place. It is about deciding what matters most, about what we want to focus on, and what we want to offer the world. The practice is ongoing. There is no destination, and there are no boundaries. It is a slow learning that calms the waters, clearing away the fog and clutter. It allows us to come out from the depths of one mindset into another, as often as we need to do so, so that we may witness all the miracles of our own evolution.
