"It is a common perception that, as we age, time passes faster and faster. We know this isn't true; time doesn’t change but for unnoticeable milliseconds over the centuries as the Moon pulls away from the Earth. However, if we're not careful, the days ~ and years ~ can seemingly pass in a blink. It can feel like we are at Time’s mercy. It got me thinking about one of my favorite topics: our power to make choices. What if something as simple as a choice, as simple as forming a new habit, a new perspective, could actually help “slow down” time? Being aware. Paying attention. Enjoying the moments. Maybe it is we who need to slow down…." Elizabeth Ladwig
"Against Time" is an evocative and dream-like scene set in a muted, desolate landscape under a cloudy sky. A woman in a long, flowing orange dress is depicted in profile and is caught in mid-motion, her hair swept by the wind. She is facing away from the viewer, giving a sense of mystery and anonymity. Wrapped around the woman is an ornate, translucent pocket watch floating in the air like a balloon. The watch is intricately designed, hinting at an element of timelessness. Around the watch and in the sky, birds are in flight, adding a sense of movement and freedom to the otherwise still and quiet environment. Cows stand in the background, contributing to the rural feel of the scene. The overall atmosphere is one of surrealism and symbolism, inviting the viewer to contemplate themes of time, freedom, and the ephemeral nature of life.
