Artist Statement
The loss of my parents last year, eight months apart, felt inconceivable. What just happened? Their passing had me questioning whether my life until then was even real. When my birthday came, I listened to their previous year’s message to confirm the memories. My creative practice came to a screeching halt, and I considered closing my studio. I feared that my creativity, along with my sense of self, would sit forever silenced in an intangible time capsule.
But the other day I laughed. Then I cried ~ tears of joy in the discovery that honest laughter had finally found a comfortable place in my body again. There is space now, expansion. I can hear it.
