DeAnn Meely, a wildlife and landscape artist from Decatur, Alabama, channels her profound connection to the natural world into evocative oil and acrylic paintings rooted in personal observation and experience. Her upbringing in the South, coupled with her life as a journalist and Army wife, has instilled in her a deep appreciation for the land and its creatures. This bond with nature is further enriched by her Native American heritage, which informs her intuitive approach to capturing the world around her.

DeAnn's artistic process begins in the field, where she spends hours observing both wildlife and landscapes, such as Southern waterways, rural areas, mountainous terrains, and Western vistas. Her encounters are marked by a keen attention to the subtleties of light and the rhythms of the natural world. These moments shape her studio practice, where each painting is a narrative born from genuine experiences, inviting viewers to share in the awe and reverence she felt in those moments. While photography serves as a tool to capture details, it is her direct interactions with the environment that truly inspire her work.

Active in the plein air community, DeAnn's paintings have been featured in exhibitions such as the National Oil and Acrylic Painters' Society Associate Member Online Exhibition (2023–2026) and the River Clay Fine Arts Festival. She was also selected for Flourish Fine Art Gallery’s 2026 Something’s Afoot exhibition. As the owner and operator of DeAnn’s Art Studio and Gallery in Decatur, she creates, exhibits, and sells her work directly to collectors. Her solo exhibitions, including a prominent display at Huntsville International Airport, have reached a wide audience, encouraging a deeper connection with nature.
