Allen Hirsh, known as The Abstract Gardener, has seamlessly woven the worlds of science and art into a tapestry of innovation and beauty. Born to Jewish chicken farmers who transformed into nurserymen on the New Jersey coast, Hirsh's early immersion in nature sparked a lifelong passion for the biological sciences. This passion led him to the prestigious California Institute of Technology, where he earned a BS in biology, followed by advanced studies in neurophysiology at Columbia University and a Ph.D. in Plant Physiology from the University of Maryland. Yet, it is his self-taught journey into the realm of art and programming that has defined his unique contribution to the art world.

Hirsh's work stands at the intersection of mathematics and visual art, driven by a profound appreciation for the hidden patterns within nature. His innovative mathematical painting system transforms ordinary digital photographs into extraordinary canvases of color and form.
