About Yonina Schuchman
Yonina Schuchman, based in Horsham, Pennsylvania, is an artist whose vibrant use of color and dynamic exploration of mediums breathe life into both acrylic and watercolor creations. After a long career in the IT industry, Yonina returned to her artistic roots upon retiring in 2018, reigniting a passion that had been nurtured during her formative years in high school and further developed through various art classes in Israel. Her journey back to art has been both a homecoming and a vibrant evolution, allowing her to transform joyful moments and beautiful sceneries into vivid expressions on canvas.
Yonina's artistic style is as diverse as it is captivating. Her watercolors, which are realistic yet infused with brightened hues, invite viewers to linger and bask in the warmth of happy occasions and mesmerizing landscapes. In stark contrast, her acrylic works are expressionistic and whimsical, with colors that leap from the canvas, capturing the essence of spontaneity and joy. Her unique techniques, such as layering watercolor with a pointillism approach or pouring non-traditional liquid watercolors onto paper to let the designs emerge organically, reveal her innovative spirit and dedication to the craft.
Educated in art from a young age, Yonina's creative journey was enriched by her time in Israel, where she explored graphic design, screen printing, and clay sculpture. Despite a significant hiatus, her commitment to learning never waned. During the pandemic, she reconnected with serious art through online classes and continued to refine her skills under the guidance of local artists. This commitment to growth is evident in her work, which reflects not only technical skill but also an emotive depth that resonates with viewers.
Yonina's artistic journey is a testament to her resilience and passion for creativity. Inspired by the innocence of children, the beauty of nature, and the playful possibilities of paint, she seeks to make up for lost time and continue to evolve as an artist. Her work is a celebration of life's joys, a canvas of memories, and a reminder of the beauty that surrounds us. As she continues to develop her craft, Yonina remains dedicated to sharing her vision and conveying the happiness and love that have blessed her life.
