About Sara Leger

Sara Léger is a Canadian artist renowned for her unique approach to painting, which she describes as "Bougie Punk"—a blend of grit and grace. Based in Lancaster, Ontario, Léger's work is layered and textured, reflecting the depth of her experiences. Her pieces begin with stenciled or abstract acrylic backgrounds that seamlessly merge into layered outfits, culminating in figures painted in oil. These figures, reminiscent of the Old Masters yet modern in spirit, serve as avatars of strength and resilience, adorned with motifs such as Sacred Hearts, birds, and flowers.

Léger's creative process is both physical and artistic. She handcrafts frames using salvaged wood and antique materials, transforming them into ornate, Rococo-inspired settings, which are often spray-painted black to emphasize their bold beauty. Her Sacred Hearts series stands out, housed in reclaimed 100-year-old windows from Maryvale Abbey. These frames symbolize a transformation from past restrictions to unapologetic presence and self-discovery, inviting viewers to recognize the striking beauty within imperfection.

Throughout her life, Léger has been dedicated to building—both literally and metaphorically. From flipping houses and repurposing forgotten wood to founding a women’s gym from her garage, she has consistently transformed overlooked materials into something vibrant and alive. Her art offers collectors a piece of strength and resilience, encouraging them to embrace their inner power and find their voice.

Operating from Cherry Bomb Studio, Léger's art reaches homes across North America, valued not merely as decoration but as a declaration. Her work appeals to those who refuse to fade into the background, inviting them to live boldly and unapologetically. In Léger's world, grit meets beauty, and each piece tells a compelling story of reclaimed strength and empowerment.
