About Sabrina Frey

Sabrina Frey is an innovative artist based in Minden, Nevada, whose unique bead mosaics have captivated audiences across the United States. A self-taught artist with a rich educational background in interior architecture, design, and marketing, Frey has seamlessly merged her professional skills with her intrinsic creative instincts. Raised among the natural beauty of Colorado, her formative years were steeped in outdoor adventures and hands-on creation, nurturing a lifelong love for nature and the tactile joy of building. “I loved building things, designing houses, and playing with art supplies,” she fondly recalls, a passion that would eventually lead her back to art after a successful career in interior architecture and teaching.

Frey’s artistic journey took a transformative turn in her mid-40s when she embraced the world of beads as her medium of choice. Her technique is entirely her own, involving intricate processes that redefine the conventional use of beads. Rather than stringing them traditionally, Frey allows each bead to "interact with each other and be themselves," creating vibrant, textured pieces that are as durable as they are captivating. Her work is a testament to the power of individuality within a cohesive whole, a philosophy reflected in her breathtaking pieces that celebrate the beauty of nature and the changing seasons.

Her artworks are deeply inspired by the natural world, evoking the elemental energy of landscapes, animal life, and the dynamic forces of the outdoors. Each creation begins with a spark of inspiration, often drawn from travel experiences or nature itself, as she selects beads not just for their color but for their ability to evoke life. Frey’s “Spark” (bald eagle) is a notable example of her ambitious and technically challenging work, a piece that solidified her confidence in capturing the essence of nature through bead art. Her largest project to date, a seven-foot square triptych illustrating ocean life, showcases her ability to transform beads into a luminous celebration of the sea’s abundant spirit.

Recognition for Frey’s work has been swift and widespread. Her art has earned numerous accolades, including “Best of Show” at prestigious events such as the Utah Arts Festival and the West Coast Fine Art Show. Her pieces have been displayed in galleries nationwide and featured at institutions like the Museum of Beadwork in Portland, Maine, and the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Art in Texas. As a dedicated artist and educator, Frey continues to push the boundaries of bead mosaic art, teaching workshops and fostering a vibrant community of artists who share her passion for
