About Melinda Fabian

Melinda Fabian, a distinguished paper sculptor from Pennsylvania, has carved a unique niche in the art world with her enchanting three-dimensional paper creations. Her art is a delicate blend of realism and whimsy, capturing the essence of nature's simple joys through a meticulous process that transforms ordinary sheets of paper into extraordinary masterpieces. With her works, she invites viewers to pause and marvel at the intricacies of her sculptures, which often feature lively depictions of animals, vibrant flowers, and whimsical scenes.

A graduate of Kutztown University with a BFA in Communication Design, Melinda embarked on her artistic journey as a professional illustrator, contributing to children's magazines and developing her award-winning "Can You Find?®" hidden object greeting cards and puzzles. Her fascination with paper art, coupled with inspiration from M. C. Escher’s lithographs, led her to explore the possibilities of creating art that seemingly leaps off the page. Through years of experimentation and self-teaching, Melinda mastered the art of three-dimensional paper sculpture, a medium in which she continues to push boundaries and explore new horizons.

Melinda's work has been celebrated in numerous exhibitions, including the acclaimed “Paper Works – Art of Paper” exhibition at the Mansion at Strathmore, where her life-scale Victorian garden installation captivated audiences and critics alike. Her innovative approach and meticulous craftsmanship earned her the First Place Sculpture and Scrimshaw Award at the Miniature Art Society of Florida exhibition in 2025, further solidifying her reputation as a leading figure in contemporary paper art.

Driven by a desire to bring joy and curiosity to her audience, Melinda's long-term aspirations include creating interactive art that fosters family connections and continues to explore the rich tapestry of nature's creatures and their habitats. Her art not only celebrates the beauty of the natural world but also underscores the importance of family and shared experiences, reflecting her personal values and life experiences. When not in her studio, Melinda finds solace in playing the harp, enjoying nature, and cherishing the simple moments that inspire her art.
