About Mark Shevetone
Mark Shevetone, an accomplished artist residing in Henderson, Nevada, has made a name for himself in the vibrant art scene of Las Vegas. Born in 1965 in Beacon, New York, Mark's artistic journey began with the inspiration of his great uncle, Alfred Pizzarelli, a renowned artist from New York City in the mid-20th century. Mark's fascination with his uncle's work laid the foundation for a lifelong exploration of art that he later honed at San Jose State University, where he graduated with a degree in art.
Known for his impressionist style, Mark's paintings are a dynamic blend of humor, color, and texture, capturing the essence of human experiences and the world around him. He is adept at using a bright, luminous palette to inject humor and vibrancy into everyday scenarios, encouraging viewers to find beauty and meaning in the unexpected. His ability to evoke emotion and reflection through the universal language of color is a testament to his skill, with each piece offering a three-dimensional exploration of life's idiosyncrasies and shared dreams.
Mark's work has garnered recognition not only locally but also on a broader stage. He was recently awarded third place in the HMVC NYC Gallery exhibition and secured a top ten finish in the Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery's "Cityscapes" exhibition in Florida. His paintings grace prominent locations along the Las Vegas Strip, as well as various casinos, restaurants, and galleries, bridging the gap between art and everyday life. Mark's artistic footprint extends from New York City to California, illustrating his broad appeal and the universal resonance of his work.
Beyond his visual art, Mark's creative spirit is rooted in a diverse background. In the 1980s, he was a professional musician with the band Stiletto, releasing an album in 1987. Today, when not painting, Mark enjoys spending time with his wife Alicia and their English bulldog, Belma, finding inspiration in the simple pleasures of life. As he continues to explore and paint, Mark remains driven by an insatiable curiosity, always seeking to capture the next moment of expression on canvas.
