Her creative spirit then led her to explore the world of fashion design, establishing her own studio in Johannesburg. This chapter of her life was followed by a transcontinental move to Omaha in 1997, where she embraced a new passion for horticulture and landscape design, earning a degree and working in the field until her retirement in 2021.
Despite the whirlwind of career changes, Karen's love for art remained a constant companion. Self-taught and fervently dedicated, she began illustrating from a young age, experimenting with pencil, charcoal, and ink.
