About Joyce Wynes

Joyce Wynes, a distinguished mixed media and abstract artist based in Davidson, North Carolina, is celebrated for her vibrant and expressive compositions. Her work, characterized by bold acrylics and meticulously crafted collages, delves into themes of personal growth and emotional depth, inviting viewers to connect with their inner selves and find empowerment. The combination of organic shapes, patterns, and textures in her art reflects a delightful spirit, encouraging introspection and self-expression.

Wynes's artistic journey began with her education at Nazareth College of Rochester, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and received the prestigious Gertrude Ford Award for excellence in art. Her early recognition came with the first-place award for her painting "Women in Art, Where Are They?" at a juried exhibition hosted by the Cayuga Museum of History and Art. This marked the beginning of a successful career, with her artwork featured in numerous national and international juried exhibitions and prominent art fairs such as the Dallas Art Expo and Red Dot Miami.

Drawing inspiration from her background in fabric design, Wynes incorporates intricate patterns and textures into her paintings. Her distinctive style encompasses categories such as figurative, hands, florals, and nonrepresentational works, capturing emotions that inspire confidence and joy. Producing up to 50 paintings annually, her recent series "Connections and Relationships" continues to explore these themes, blending non-representational abstracts with her signature vibrant palette.

Wynes's contributions to the art world have been widely recognized, earning her multiple Arts and Science Council grants, which highlight her ongoing impact and influence. Her work has been showcased in respected publications and exhibitions, including those by the Women's Caucus for Art and Studio Visit Magazine, solidifying her reputation as a transformative figure in contemporary abstract art.
