"It is that flash of red and gold ~ that flash of fire ~ against the otherwise solid black plumage that identifies the red-winged blackbird. Alongside the Sun's gradual return from darker days, redwings arrive in large flocks in early Spring, their colorful sparks blazing the way to destination ponds and swamplands. I hadn't thought of it before now, just hours after completing this work: they are a reminder that the spark of our passions, the light of creativity, and the doors to discovery are always within reach if we are open to receiving them. When something is lost, or even when it lies dormant, it still exists ~ and that means it can be found. Just use your key. It's right there." Elizabeth Ladwig

"Lost and Found" is a creatively digitally composited artwork. The central figure is a woman with long red hair wearing a flowing blue dress, who is seen from the back. The subject is reaching out toward a black bird that is taking flight. Emphasizing the motion, the dress and hair showcase dynamic movement. Above the figure, a bird is seen flying away with a key in its beak. To the left of the person stands a striking red wooden gate with pointed tops, seemingly detached from any fence and located in the middle of a natural landscape. The gate, with its prominent rustic lock, creates a sense of a barrier, which now is overcome, as suggested by the key carried by the bird. The setting is a grassy field dotted with white flowers, blending into a treeline which stretches across the mid-horizon. Above, a textured, cloudy sky in a sepia tone looms over the scene, adding a timeless quality to the image. The work is rich in symbolism and is likely designed to evoke imagination and emotion pertaining to creativity, possibility, and the unknown.
