"In the Spring, the Earth makes her grand entrance once again. It is sure to be a spectacular sight and, as we make our trips to the local nurseries, we help her along in this time of growth and change by planting flowers, trees, herbs, and vegetables. We want her to succeed, and we want to be a part of it. But let's face it: in daily life, change can be scary. Growth can be scary. We may feel overwhelmed by it, intimidated, or just plain anxious as we venture into new territory. But growth can also be joyful and exciting, especially if we are able to identify and implement all the helpful tools that are available to us. These tools may be practical and mundane, or they may be spiritual and more abstract. They may be objects or people or habits or skills, and they're all there to help us. When was the last time you revisited your dreams and wishes? What would you like to see happen on your big day??" Elizabeth Ladwig
"Her Big Day" features a woman dressed in a flowing red gown seated on a rocky outcrop overlooking the sea. Her hair is long and is blown by the wind, with its reddish hue complementing the color of her dress. Her hair obscures her face, and around her, several seagulls are in flight, some close by and others further away, adding a sense of movement to the scene. The overcast sky above captures a palette of subdued colors, which contrasts with the bright red of her gown. Far in the background, a single sailboat can be seen on the calm sea. The overall mood of the piece is contemplative and serene, with a touch of enigmatic allure due to the subject's obscured face and distant gaze.
