"Every drop of water is part of all the water in the world. It seeps into the soil and evaporates again. It is carried on the winds, it freezes and thaws, it flows downstream, and it crashes into the shore. At times we may feel like we're battling the current. We may rise, fall, or we may find ourselves joyfully floating, flowing, or embracing the vastness of the ocean. And some days we may be peering out of a fish bowl. Every drop of water simultaneously takes form and is formless, forever adapting to its container, or lack thereof. It is playful and powerful. It is serene and spiritual, abundant, and resilient. Water excels at change. It does not invest itself so strongly in any truth that it would forever cease to consider other states of being. What admirable qualities." Elizabeth Ladwig
"All the Water in the World" features a surrealistic scene situated on a beach. The central figure is a woman viewed from behind, wearing a long red dress, her hair flowing with the wind. The striking element of the composition is that the lower portion of her body is standing within a transparent tank filled with water. Around the woman, the beach environment has some peculiar additions—three crows are present, one voraciously pecking at the ground, the other taking flight close to the woman's side, and the third standing directly next to the woman, holding a fish within its beak. The sky is textured and the water stretches to the horizon, undisturbed except for a singular wave The surreal juxtaposition of elements and the serene yet disconcerting atmosphere suggestively play with themes of reality, illusion, and nature.
