About Diane Tomash

Diane Tomash, an accomplished painter and printmaker from Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, is known for her evocative landscapes and traditional artistic techniques. Growing up in central New Jersey, she was surrounded by a blend of woodland and urban environments, coupled with the allure of upstate New York and the Jersey Shore. These experiences sparked her passion for art, which led her to attend the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art and later the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. There, she earned a Painting Certificate and further developed her skills, particularly under the guidance of printmaker Anthony Rosati.

Tomash’s artistic work merges her love of nature with her practice, often painting en plein air to authentically capture the beauty of her surroundings. Her landscapes are imbued with a sense of place and emotional depth, inviting viewers into serene visual spaces. She primarily works with oils on linen, archival board, and quality cotton, ensuring her creations are both captivating and enduring. Her monotypes, created using oil-based inks on Rives BFK paper, are inspired by her outdoor painting sessions and are rooted in emotion and memory.

Throughout her career, Tomash has received numerous accolades, including a Gold Medal of Honor for a monotype, and she has been recognized at various exhibitions nationwide. Her work has been shown at prestigious venues like the National Arts Club and the Salmagundi Club in New York City. Her affiliations with organizations such as the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, the American Artists Professional League, and the Boston Printmakers underscore her significant contributions to the art world. Tomash’s artworks are also featured in distinguished collections, including those of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Noyes Museum of Stockton University.

Diane Tomash remains committed to her artistic journey, continually exploring new techniques in painting and printmaking. As she delves into collagraph printmaking, she aims to expand her visual narrative while maintaining a universal appeal that resonates emotionally with audiences everywhere.
