About Cora Salvino

Cora Salvino is an accomplished fused glass artist based in Pearland, Texas, whose vibrant creations are imbued with the dynamic interplay of light and glass. Embarking on her artistic journey later in life, Salvino brings a unique perspective to her craft, informed by her extensive career as a practicing OB/GYN. Her medical career, which spanned five decades, provided her with the discipline and precision that now inform her meticulous approach to glasswork. Since retiring in January 2025, Salvino has fully devoted herself to her art, transforming her longtime passion into a full-time pursuit.

Salvino's work is deeply inspired by the natural world, capturing the essence of landscapes and organic forms through abstract and impressionistic glass compositions. Her dedication to using transparent glass allows her to explore the ever-changing relationship between light and material, creating pieces that evolve with their environment. This fascination with light's transformative qualities gives her art a living, breathing quality that captivates viewers and invites them to experience the work anew each time they encounter it.

Though primarily self-taught, Salvino has honed her craft through dedicated practice and selective instruction in specialized techniques. Her commitment to excellence has earned her spots in numerous juried exhibitions, and her work is regularly showcased in esteemed venues such as the Art Machine Gallery at the Silos at Sawyer Yards and Primal Gallery in Dripping Springs, Texas. Salvino also maintains an active studio at Hardy and Nance Studios in Houston, where her innovative pieces continue to garner attention.

Beyond her personal artistic achievements, Salvino is passionate about raising awareness of fused glass as a formidable art form. Her long-term aspiration is not only to sell her work but also to broaden public appreciation for the medium's versatility and beauty. Through her art, Cora Salvino illuminates the compelling dialogue between light and glass, inviting audiences to see the world through her distinct and luminous lens.
