Chrys Albaugh

About Chrys Albaugh
Chrys Albaugh is a dedicated artist based in Woodside, California, whose work is deeply rooted in the traditions of Classical Realism. Having honed her skills in two distinct streams of this venerable style, Chrys's creations often explore profound themes such as dreams, death, and debate. Her artistic journey is driven not by fleeting inspiration but by a relentless compulsion to translate her vivid internal imagery into tangible forms.
Educated with a Bachelor of Science in Fine Art from Nebraska Wesleyan University, Chrys further refined her craft at the Thos. Leighton Studio in San Francisco and the Lack & LeSueur Ateliers in Minnesota. These experiences have equipped her with a robust foundation in classical techniques, specifically those originating from 16th century France. Chrys is a proud practitioner of "The Living Eye Legacy," a time-honored method passed down from artist to artist, which she employs with either oils or acrylics to bring her visions to life.
Chrys has showcased her work in multiple solo and group exhibitions, notably at the Women's Artists of San Francisco gallery, Iron Tail Gallery in Nebraska, and her own gallery in Tubac, Arizona. Beyond her exhibitions, she has also contributed to the artistic community by teaching numerous classes at the Leighton Studio and the Palo Alto Art Center, further solidifying her professional presence in the art world.
Chrys Albaugh believes that the life of an artist is one of quiet dedication, where the true excitement lies in the daily practice of art-making. Her commitment to her work is unwavering, as she continues to develop her skills and contribute to the lineage of classical artistry with each stroke of her brush. Her long-term aspiration remains to faithfully capture the images that have lingered in her mind throughout her life, immortalizing them on canvas with precision and passion.
