Anne Burtt

About Anne Burtt
Anne Burtt is a dynamic fused glass artist whose vibrant creations are as rich in texture as they are in color. Based in San Antonio, Texas, Anne's artistic journey began at a tender age when her family moved from Flora, Indiana, to Tripoli, Libya. This early exposure to diverse cultures set the stage for a lifetime of exploration and creativity. Her father's career in the Air Force introduced her to the distinct artistic landscapes of Spain and the United Kingdom, experiences that would later influence her own artistic expression.
Anne's path took her into the Air Force as well, where her assignments in Italy, Spain, and Germany allowed her to immerse herself further in European art and culture. However, it was in San Antonio where she established her studio and honed her craft, combining her fascination with color, light, and texture into glassworks that captivate the imagination. Her artistic process involves painting backgrounds on sheet art glass with enamel paints, which she then fires in a kiln. By adding additional glass components, she creates pieces that are not only visually intriguing but also deeply textured, offering viewers a multidimensional experience.
Despite a lack of formal art education, Anne's artistic acumen is evident in her experimental approach to fused glass. Her dedication to learning through hands-on experimentation has allowed her to develop a unique style that resonates with audiences. Her work has been showcased in numerous group exhibitions throughout San Antonio, and she was honored with a solo exhibition at the Mockingbird Handprints Gallery in 2022. In 2023, she participated in the prestigious "Texas Dimensional - Fine Art in Three Dimensions" exhibition at the San Antonio Art League and Museum.
Anne Burtt's commitment to pushing the boundaries of her artistry is paralleled by her dedication to giving back. As her artwork continues to evolve, so does her philanthropic spirit; she donates a portion of her proceeds to local charities, a practice she hopes to expand as her career progresses. Anne's fusion of artistic innovation and community support makes her not only a remarkable artist but also a valued contributor to the cultural and social fabric of her community.
